Watching the river flow

Watching the river flow
...but these days the current seems a little stronger than I can ever recall.
No I've never been knee deep in the Rogue on a sunny day, and I wish I'd ridden the Merrimack with old Thoreau. But who hasn't had to lash a few logs together, and who hasn't heard the thunder upstream.
With Bunny on the bass, Huck and Jim along for the ride, this Mississippi looks just fine. And with friends like Lawrence on Viola and Rose firing up the cat (there's nothing like a good catskinner), Chris and Joe to dance and holler; well it ain't gonna be no deliverence scene.
Yes, there will be some banjo.
The water dances and spins, and Jerry Jeff Walker won't start up like a gem; but John is riding the slurf as we hit the white water, so we don't capsize this hollywood bed. SF, dint, kittin' case, flip and ahab jr. are all aboard for Tuesday nights. We may be way over yonder in the minor key, down at the lounge, but oh Columbia keep on rolling to the sea, forget the dams and listen.
It sounds pretty good to me.
