slow down that sleigh
When the days started piling up like snow this past December. I wanted to slow down that sleigh, wondering where the twelve days had gone...fast as a merry spinout in the snow I guess. But between slinking home to my cave after foisting cheap plonk on the unsuspecting public for hours on end and sleeping off binges on said plonk, there didn't seem to be a lot of spare time. But if I would I was to take a moment and think about reasons to be grateful, I would start with George Bush...Thank God he is not the all powerful being he and his administration seem to think he is... And while I'm at it I gotta give a little love to the music, the boys in the band and CC too. Where would I be without those occasional shows. I get to wear my best cowboy gear, drink beer, bellow freely and get paid. (?)
oK, maybe I am not exactly grateful for this long dark donkey's night, but it so happened that our first night back at the Lizard this year was the night of the New Hampshire primary. With sharp elbows and precedence on their side, the voters told the pollsters to go to hell ( or DC ). And it made me feel proud. Every one of those Washington types was dead wrong. Every one baby! Hi five to the granite state.
Next Morning and Matt asks: "Obama was it the tears?"
... in time you're gonna pay,
but if it's a woman who's to say?
My god what a bunch of assholes.
Marshall Mcluhan had it about half right about the message and the media. After a 40-inch flat screen, with hi-def and surround sound, what room is left for a message but what they give you? The White House press corps giving the white house a a full body massage? Sweet...
but then again just because people watch crap doesn't mean they want to see the creepy self body massage that is political coverage today. The gross sins of pundition that having a woman and a black man as the frontrunners has brought out in our best and brightest (or most-watched and best lookin') gives me the chills. (Kinda like listening to American Idol)...
does the medium becomes a massage?
Oh Yeah.
We played some music too...
It was Elvis' birthday, back and packed at the Lizard. In tune not out. One mike not two, or with three an half on the flip side and guests to spare. Little sister was all shook up. But it makes no difference. Thomas Juliano, Rose, Chris and Joe were there.
We hated had to ignore the note requesting Sarah Smile or something by Elton John but alas, there wasn't enough time... besides it's already next week. Did we had even more fun or just more guests? No. Madi Diaz was killin', with Rose Cousins and Aoife too. Are you kiddin' me?
